About SecondShadow

Built by two operators who have run the admin themselves.

We believe businesses should run smoother without being asked to become a different business. No reorganisation, no new operating model, no consultants. The same company, with less in its way.

Leadership

You deal with us directly during the early access programme: requests, replies and escalations.

Paul Risk

Co-Founder and Chief Executive

Paul has founded and sold two companies before SecondShadow. Both taught him the same thing: the time in a growing business goes on administration, and most tools add to it rather than remove it. SecondShadow is what he wanted on the first two occasions.

Josh Jones

Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer

Josh built his career across a range of roles in the UK security channel, seeing first hand how the systems a business runs shape its day, and how often that is for the worse. He leads product and engineering at SecondShadow so that stops being true for our customers.

How we think

Smoother, not different.

Most software asks the business to change to fit it. We would rather fit the business.

  1. 01

    You stay who you are

How you sell, invoice and look after customers is yours. Our job is to make it faster and more reliable, not to replace it with ours.

  2. 02

    Feedback sets the roadmap

We take pride in hearing what customers think, including the uncomfortable parts. The platform grows with the people using it, and programme members decide what ships first.

  3. 03

    Efficiency is a means

The value of removing manual lead-to-cash work is the time and accuracy it returns to the business. That is what we measure ourselves on.

  4. 04

    Plain English, always

If a capability cannot be explained in a sentence, it is not finished. The same rule applies to pricing and to contracts.

How we build

With customers, in the open, on a published cadence.

Programme members receive build updates, including what did not work. What ships next is decided by what we hear back, not by a roadmap written in isolation.

  1. You tell us

What is slow, missing or wrong.

  2. We build it

    In weeks, reviewed with you.

  3. We report back

What shipped, what broke, what changed.

Tell us where your lead-to-cash process is slow.

A founder reads every request, and every place is approved by hand.
